  • Do I still need insurance if I join Flying Oaks DPC?
Yes, we recommend maintaining insurance coverage for emergencies, hospitalizations, and specialist care. Think of your DPC membership as your day-to-day healthcare home, while insurance serves as your safety net for major medical events.
  • What happens if I need care after hours or on weekends?
As a member, you have direct access to Dr. Brown through secure messaging, phone, or video call. However, for medical emergencies, call 911 or proceed to your nearest urgent care emergency department.
  • How long are appointments?
Unlike traditional 10-minute visits, our appointments typically last 30-60 minutes, depending on your needs. Your first visit will be particularly comprehensive, allowing time to understand your complete health story.
  • Can you be my entire family's doctor?
Yes! We provide care for all ages, from children to seniors. Having the whole family under one medical home allows us to better understand and address your family's health needs.
  • What's included in my membership?
Your membership covers all primary care services as described in your patient agreement, including office visits, preventive care, chronic disease management, and most in-office procedures. Basic testing like strep tests and urinalysis are included, while labs, medications, and specialized tests are available at discounted rates.
  • How quickly can I get an appointment?
Most members can see Dr. Brown the same day or the next day when needed. For non-urgent visits, appointments are typically available within a week.
  • What if I need to see a specialist?
We coordinate closely with specialists when needed. Our deep understanding of your health story helps us make focused, appropriate referrals and effectively communicate with other providers about your care.
  • Can I pay with my HSA/FSA?
Because there is no firm guidance regarding the use of HSA/FSA for DPC membership fees, check with your employer, employee benefits manager, or CPA for the latest information.
  • What's the difference between this and concierge medicine?
Unlike concierge practices that often charge high annual fees and still bill insurance, our direct primary care model is more affordable and transparent. We work directly with you, without insurance companies between us, allowing us to keep costs reasonable while providing exceptional care.
  • What if I need to cancel my membership?
We understand circumstances change. While we hope to build a long-term relationship with you, we require only a 30-day notice to cancel your membership, with no long-term commitment required.
  • Does Flying Oaks DPC work with Medicare Patients?
Absolutely! However, we do not bill or charge Medicare for our services, just as we don't accept other forms of insurance. If you have Medicare, you will sign a waiver stating that your doctor will not directly bill Medicare for services. Be assured you may still use your Medicare benefits to cover laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations that may be ordered as the result of a visit at Flying Oaks DPC.
